Why here

Everything you need,
on foot

NewCastle on Lario sits in the handiest spot in Mandello del Lario: two minutes from the lake, five from the station and the main square, a short walk from the boat pier.

Restaurants, bars, the supermarket, the sailing club and the old town are all within walking distance. If you come by train you need nothing else; if you come by car, leave it in the box and forget about it.

And yet the home is quiet: it's in a small, recently built private residence with a green courtyard and excellent sound insulation. In the village, but away from the noise.

Mandello is a real village, not a postcard: people live here all year round, and you get to live the lake the way they do.

Why choose it

Genuinely convenient,
in a lively village

Not a postcard house, but a home that's easy to live in: for a weekend or a month, for light travellers and for anyone who'd rather avoid stairs.

  1. The handiest spot in the village

The lake two minutes away, the station and square five, the boat pier, shops and restaurants round the corner. Everything on foot.

  2. A lively village, not just for tourists

People live in Mandello all year round: shops, bars, services and locals. Nothing closes out of season.

  3. Made for longer stays

Full kitchen, washing machine, a workspace with Wi-Fi and the supermarket within walking distance. Stays of more than 28 days are welcome.

  4. Easy for older guests too

From the garage a lift takes you right to the door. Bathroom, kitchen, living room and sofa bed are all on the same floor.

  5. The car stays in the box

A free private box in the underground garage. If you come by train, the station is five minutes away.

  6. Quiet, right in the centre

A small private residence built in 2015, with a green courtyard and excellent sound insulation.

The loft

New, quiet
and made for feeling good

The loft was completed in May 2015, in a private residence with a lift, class A systems and controlled mechanical ventilation: the air refreshes itself, summer and winter.

The main floor has the fully equipped kitchen, with dishwasher and induction hob, the dining area and the living room with a large sofa bed. By the entrance there's a work surface with Wi-Fi for anyone who needs to log on.

A modern staircase leads up to the mezzanine, with the double bed under the wooden beams and skylights. The bathroom, with shower and bidet, is on the living-room floor.

Outside there's a large terrace with a table, chairs and a drying rack: the view is of the mountains that rise behind the village.

Where we are

In the centre of Mandello,
on the Lecco branch

Mandello del Lario lies on the eastern shore of Lake Como, between Lecco and Lierna, with the Grigne mountains behind it and the Bellagio shore opposite.

From the loft you walk to the lakefront, the square, the station and the boat pier. This is Moto Guzzi's home town: the company was founded here in 1921 and still builds its motorcycles here.

By train, Lecco and Varenna are ten minutes away; from Varenna the ferry takes you to Bellagio and the other shore. A handy base for seeing the lake without spending your days in the car.

How much does a week cost?

The price depends on the season, the length of stay and the number of guests. Pick your dates on the calendar or contact us directly for a full quote, with no obligation.

How far is the lake?

Two minutes on foot. The square, the station and the boat pier are about five minutes away.

Does the loft have a lake view?

No: the terrace looks towards the mountains and the residence courtyard. In exchange the lake is two minutes' walk away, and the loft is in the centre, in a quiet area.

Is parking included?

Yes. You have a free private box in the residence's underground garage, connected to the loft by lift.

Is it good for a stay of a month or more?
